Historical Election in the Czech Republic

United Methodist Superintendent Ivana Prochazkova was elected the first vice-president of the Ecumenical Council of Churches in the Czech Republic.
 
The Ecumenical Council of Churches in the Czech Republic elected its new leadership at its General Assembly held in Prague on November 23, 2021. Tomas Tyrlik, Bishop of the Silesian Evangelical Church of Augsburg, became the new chairman.
 
Ivana Prochazkova, superintendent of The United Methodist Church in the Czech Republic, became the first woman to sit on the Ecumenical Council of Churches' immediate leadership. Her election is a recognition of the ecumenical commitment of the UMC in the Czech Republic. She accepted the election with gratitude. "I appreciate the confidence that the leaders of the Churches have expressed in me."
 
The Ecumenical Council of Churches brings together 16 Christian Churches and the Federation of Jewish Communities. It represents the individual Churches in relation to the Czech State and coordinates inter-church cooperation such as joint ministries in the army, prisons, police or hospitals, which are carried out together with the Czech Bishops' Conference.
 
The new presidency took office at the moment of the election.
